The van door slides open and the air hits your face right away. It smells like pine and a little bit like sea salt, depending on where you landed. You want nature close enough that you actually go outside, even if it is just for ten minutes with coffee in your hand. Maybe there is a deck where you can stretch in the morning. Maybe there is a yard for games or a fire pit where stories come out without forcing them.

I also think about what kind of group we are today. Friends who want to cook and stay up late, or coworkers who need space to breathe between sessions, or family members trying to be kind again after a long year. Korea has pensions that fit all of these moods, from mountain valleys with crisp nights to coastal towns where you hear waves through an open window.
